Whitney and Jaime Exchange Vows at Westin La Cantera

Whitney and Jaime were married at the Westin La Cantera last Saturday. Rain was in the forecast so Vicky's staff at the hotel waited until the last minute to set up the chairs outside. Luck was on our side. There was thunder in the distance as Whitney came down the aisle, but the rain held off until the ceremony was over. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. I tell you the Westin makes a beautiful setting for a wedding. I think everything was just what Whitney was looking for- beauty and romance- as their family and friends witnessed their vow exchange. Whitney and Jaime were fantastic to work with. Couples like them remind me why I love what I do.
Check out a short slide show of their day. If you'd like to see the entire set of images from the day click here.

Whitney got dressed in a great suite at the Westin.
I saw this beautiful light playing across Whitney's face as she was getting ready and couldn't resist it.
Jaime's lookin' GQ as he hangs out prior to the wedding.
This silhouette of Whitney is stunning.
Do you think she's happy?
A little anxiety sets in as she watches the crowd arrive.
I told you this was a great site for a wedding.

What a sweet moment!

It is official now!
The sun was completly gone so we used the lights from the building to create something special in these two images.

I always love this moment during the first dance.

Whitney removed her veil during the reception and put these beautiful orchids in her hair.

It's all over!

McNay Site of Sarah's and Eric's Wedding

What a great couple. Sarah and Eric live in Dallas, but decided to have theie wedding in SA at the McNay Art Museum. The museum made a wonderful setting for this intimate affair. I had not met Sarah and Eric until the evening of the wedding. That is somewhat scary since we were not able to make a connection before the big day. But I have to tell you they were fantastic to work with and we connected right away. Both had their acts together and let the day flow. Consequently everything ran smoothly. Julie McGarraugh from the McNay made sure the museum looked fantastic. It couldn't have been more romantic for a couple than to get married among the beautiful pieces of art. After the wedding Page Barteau served a meal to die for. I think it was 5 courses. Each course was a work of art. I hope you enjoy a few images from the wedding. If you want to see all of images click here.

We are at an art museum. What not use the art in the photographs.
Eric loved this Picasso!
Sarah was as beautiful as this Monet!
What a stud!
What is the artwork here-Sarah or the painting.
I think she's happy.
Does Eric look nervous? This was the moment just before he saw Sarah.
"I promise to love, honor, and ..."
Small, intimate weddings have a special feel for those involved.

Dad looked pretty proud as he escorted Sarah down the aisle.
Don't you think Eric is a little excited as he sees Sarah coming with Dad?
Page Barteau put together a dinner to die for.
Their first toast as husband and wife.

I think Eric's father approves.
They could hardly contain themselves during their first dance.

Kidney Transplant

Debbie, my office manager, and I got a rare glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes in a transplant hospital. We have been commissioned to create some images to help decorate the newly remodeled transpant wing. The idea is to show "The Day in the Life of a Transplant Hospital". We were truly humbled at what we saw. We met some amazing doctors and staff who really take pride in what they do. The stories behind many of the characters we visited were extremely inspirational. We photographed an actual kidney transplant. I have never seen such skill as the kidney was removed, delicately cleaned and then placed in the recipient. The recipient's daughter selflessly gave one of her kidneys to her mother. As I understand they both are doing great.

Did you think this was a picture of the surgeons? Not hardly! Debbie and I had to scrub in before we could go into the operating room.

I don't know what this instrument is or how it works, but I understand the doctors remove the kidney arthroscopically. Truly amazing!

In the back left of this image the surgeon who places the new kidney into the recipient carefully prepares the kidney as the patient in the foreground gets a new lease on life. WOW! It is amazing what modern medicine can achieve.

I am totally blown away that the doctors perform procedures by looking a monitors. They do not have to look at the patient. I guess this is the benefit of mastering video games as kids.

This is a close up of the surgeon actually working on the kidney before it goes into the patient. Everything gets cleaned up and the veins flushed so the recipient has a nearly new kidney.

Jennie and Ben Marry at Horseshoe Bay

Jennie and Ben were married this past weekend at her parents Lake House in Horseshoe Bay. The ground of their home made for a spectacular setting for the wedding. Nearly 300 guests witnessed the event on the lawn next to the lake. After the wedding Jennie and Ben took a boat to the Marriott Hotel where Judy Patterson, the events coordinator, made sure the hotel looked amazing. Betty Parish and Maria Morgan from The Wedding Planners, Inc. took care of every detail. Take some time and enjoy a few of their images. For a complete view of all of their images click here. I also put together an upbeat slide show that really shows the excitment of the day.
Jennie looked gorgeous in her gown.

Does Ben look like Mr. Ivy League or what? He was truly a great groom to work with.

The back of Jennie's gown was so cool!

The ceremony was breathtakingly beautiful.

Is there any doubt she loves him?

Ben is crazy about Jennie. But again who wouldn't be.

This couple have a unique connection we rarely see.

Did I do it right, Daddy? Young children are a joy to have in a wedding. All of the children were great!

The WOW factor was pretty high at this wedding.

The fireworks were the highlight of the night.

Lynsey and Joe at La Cantera

The Westin La Cantera was the site of Lynsey's and Joe's wedding and as usual Vicki put together a wonderful event. I always enjoy working at her hotel. Sue at Alamo Plants and Petals handled the flowers and they were simply georgeous. Betty Parish with the Wedding Planners made sure everything went off without a hitch and kept everyone at ease. She is one cool lady and really helps make my job much easier. Cathy Young's cakes topped off the evening. Her cakes have to be the best in the Southwest. Check out the slide show of the wedding and get a feel for how much fun it was. If you want to see all of their images click here.
Wow! These flowers are georgeous.
What a bunch of studs!
Lynsey's Grandmother was one special lady. She was my back up cameraman.

Lynsey looked radiant.

Lookin' quite cool, Joe!

Check the air this guy got as he went after the garter.

The Westin looked spectacular this evening.

Katy and Porter at The Dominion

We had a wonderful time a couple of days ago doing the engagement photographs of Katie and Porter. What a fun couple to work with. They were very relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera which made it easy for me. Their dog was a fun addition to the session, too. The wedding is not until next summer so I look forward to getting to know them well before the big day. Enjoy their images. To see a slide show of their images click here. And to view all of the images this is the link.
Porter, you are a lucky guy!

A great family portrait.
Could it actually be autumn?
You have to love her smile!
A quiet romantic interlude.

Thanks, Katie and Porter, I really am enjoying working with you!

Lauren and John Marry at The Westin La Cantera

The Westin La Cantera was the place to be last Saturday night. Lauren and John were married before a large crowd of family and friends. The hotel did a knock our job hosting the event. The flowers that Tom from RTC provided really looked beautiful. Mary Beth Edgerton did a fantastic job decorating everything. She has a knack of putting things together with an understated elegance that exudes class. And of course a wedding is not a wedding without Cathy Young's cakes.
Check out this slide show that gives a short preview of their wedding day.
Here is a link to all of their images. They are gorgeous.

Thanks for stopping by!
I loved her hair that day.

See what I mean by understated elegance.
What else is there to say but, "WOW!"
I think Lauren's looking for her man.

And here he is!
What a killer expression!
John's lookin' pretty cool!
I am glad we caught this kiss right after the ceremony.
The moment they exchanged vows.
"Hey, girls, we did it. It is official.
This is truly a special time after the ceremony.
I love this expression of the two of them during the ceremony.
It is moments like this that make me glad I do what I do.
We lucked out capturing the Westin during sunset with the moon out.
The first dance is always a special moment.
John's brother gave a special toast that really meant a great deal to John and Lauren.
